Mary Magalasi: On the way to becoming a nurse...

Hello! My name is Mary Magalasi. I was born on 28th December 2003. I'm 13 years old and I'm from Giti Chilumba which is situated in the Karonga district. My parents are Emelia and Jacob Magalasi. The were born in 1982 and 1972 respectively in Daressalam, Tansania and they imigrated to Malawi years ago. I have three brothers and three sisters who all go to school, but to other schools. I am currently attending the first grade of Kaseye school so I am at the very beginning of my secondary school education. I get lessons in English, Mathematics, Chichewa, French, Biology, Geography, Social Studies, Agriculture, Physics, History and Biblical Studies.
When I don't have to learn, I often visit sick and old people in the area during my free time. I get water from the well for them and clean their huts. Sometimes I clean in the hospital. I also like to read novels, pray, play football and chat with my friends.
I live at Kaseye School with the other students. There are different accommodations for the individual grades. A supervising team takes care of us night and day and they also assist us, of course, in running the school's facilities such as cooking or school gardening.
I would like to attend this secondary school and learn here because the teaching quality is very good and I would like to help other people later on as a nurse and assist the doctors in the hospital.

The profiles that reach us from Kaseye Secondary Boarding School read like this or similar. A photo and the bi-annual school reports leave a positive impression of the sponsorships that our organization grants to selected Kaseye students. This scholarship programme currently supports 45 girls at the secondary school in Chitipa, Northern Malawi. Without the sponsorship, the girls who receive about 300 Euros annual support would not be able to pay the usual school fees for secondary schools in Malawi. This means that education and professional training which are the foundation for an independent future would be unreachable goals for them. Some of our sponsorships, such as Mary's, are not yet taken. You can fill this gap and take on a sponsorship or give it away to good friends, family or to yourself. As sponsor of our organization, we will invite you to our annual general assemblies to inform you about our current work and on-going projects. As a sponsor of a scholarship amounting to 300 Euros, you will also receive further information such as the profile of the supported girl.
